I got my keyball61 back in June and have been using it exclusively since then. I ordered the soldered (not assembled) kit and it was very easy to put together. This keyboard is absolutely amazing. I work in digital transformation and the systems I use require a lot of back and forth mousing and typing - even for small revisions. I tried using QMK mouse movements on my last keyboard but never became fully comfortable with that setup. It took some adjustment and figuring out how best to configure the mouse buttons but the trackball on the keyball has completely eliminated my need to reach for the mouse when doing these back and forth movements. I absolutely love this thing and am already looking into getting the keyball39 for a smaller package.

Aside from the keyboard itself, the holykeebs Discord is very active and Idan is always available to lend a hand. This level of support is just something you don't get with larger companies.

I purchased the Keyball61 kit, along with the LEDs, OLEDs, plates, the whole shebang. Everything came packaged very well! I also ordered some switches, which we're unfortunately left out but a refund was issued promptly and it didn't interfere with the build. Overall the build experience was very straightforward, the PCB provided has clearly labeled silkscreen making everything pretty easy. Overall I would definitely build it again, and I fully plan on picking up some of the other Keyball models in the future!

Very comfortable keyboard layout, corne like alpha cluster with compact kyria-like thumbs. Plus a ball! Bearings are ceramic, so in a way that is already pre-upgraded!

Build is entirely SMD based, so as long as you are comfortable with small components, soldering is a cinch. Pads are well laid out, spaced nicely, labelled well for the LEDs, and overall a very easy experience. I've soldered a fair few boards, all THT (something like 15+....) so this was a first for all SMD and it went very well. Keep in mind that I almost exclusively use a 2.4mm chisel tip with unleaded solder, and there were zero issues getting the iron in position for any components. Only partial issue I had was that the Kailh sockets are too narrow for that kind of chisel, so I had to get creative with iron positioning.

Note that the ball sensor orientation is vertical, and motion is best sensed directly opposite to it. The motion is thus optimized for thumb motion, however a finger can be used (the top of the ball is semi useless for up/down motion so you do have to use the side of the ball with your finger) in a pinch.

Remap does work well, UI is a bit annoying when you want to change the entire layout though (Colemak DH user, so the majority of the qwerty layout has to go!).

A small note with switches and the plate: I do not know if this is an issue across the board (heh), but I built this board with Infinity Key Cow switches. The switches had significant difficulty inserting into the plate, and I found that the LED side switch clips were all getting shaved once they successfully inserted. I did NOT have this issue with any durock or kailh switches that I tested with, so this may be exclusively an issue with the Cows (I did note that those clips did look a bit larger than the other switches).

Overall very pleased with the build, and the comfort of the board!

They’re a little bit too light for my howe row because I rest my fingers too heavily and accidentally press the keys, but they’re incredibly smooth and quiet. I’m ending up using the 35g twilight switches on my home row and these nocturnal ones for every other key.

I purchased this trackpoint for my Lily58 (version with trackball). Now, i'm using the trackpoint (left) and the trackball(right) together. (The trackball is used for scrolling). Everything works very well.

I've been daily driving my Corne variant of the keyboard with Cherry MX switches and a single trackpad on the right hand for the last two weeks.

I am a heavy user, and travel a couple times a month. I am happy to say this keyboard handled the travel without an issue.

There are multiple options in the market for similar things, but none had trackpads integrated at a decent price. This is the most unique offering, at, frankly, not a lot of extra cost comparing to other services that ship "similar" keyboards that don't even have a mouse device.

While the delivery was a little late from the initial estimation, this was handled transparently by the vendor, making sure I was up to date and aware of all the steps and the reasons for delays.

I am looking forward to getting my colleagues and friends to give HolyKeebs a try!

The build quality is good.
Although delivery took a month, it was worth the wait.
The trackball has excellent sensitivity.
Mapping software is also convenient.

I opted for the soldered build service and have been extremely pleased. I've built one keyboard before that had a lot less soldering involved, so the build option was a big help. The cirque trackpad is a really nice addition. Set up was easy, and the docs are clear and easy to follow. Just excellent all around!
