The trackball is part of the board rather than a module.
We build ergonomic split keyboards with pointing devices on them - a trackball, trackpoint or touchpad, so you never reach for a mouse. Configure yours in 3D and we build it: soldered, flashed and typed on before it ships.
Loading 3D
Two halves you place where your shoulders already are, and keys in straight columns under your fingers. It looks unfamiliar for about a week.
Keys sit in straight columns matched to finger length, so your fingers reach up and down instead of sideways.
The firmware is yours to change. Move any key, add layers, remap the whole thing whenever you like.
A pointing device on the keyboard means your hand never leaves it. Three ways to do that, and they feel very different.
Best for: large, precise movement
A 34mm ball under your thumb. It takes the most space and gives the most control, and the Keyball boards build it into the board itself.
Best for: ThinkPad muscle memory
The familiar nub from a ThinkPad, made for small, precise nudges. The smallest footprint of the three, versatile once you're used to it.
Best for: gestures and scrolling
A 43 by 40mm touchpad with a smooth and comfortable glass top. Supports tap, press and hold, swipe, pinch to zoom and scroll.
You pick the parts. We do the soldering, the assembly and the testing.
Pick the switches, keycaps, case and pointing device, and watch the board change as you go.
Your board is soldered and assembled by hand from the parts you chose.
Firmware goes on, every key and the pointing device get checked, and the board gets typed on.
It leaves ready to plug in. If anything is wrong with it, message us and we will sort it out.

Every board is built to order, so it depends on the queue. The current estimate is in the banner at the top of this page, and it is the same number we work to.
No. We build it: soldered, assembled, flashed and typed on, so it arrives ready to plug in and use.
If you want part of the build yourself, the soldered tier leaves you the switches, keycaps, pointing device and fastening the case. A kit leaves you all of it.
On layers. A 42-key board holds the number row, symbols and arrows on layers you reach by holding a thumb key, the way Shift already works. It is the part that takes longest to feel natural.
Nothing about it is fixed: these run QMK, so every key, layer and combo is yours to change - live, without reflashing the board and without writing any code. Boards ship with a sensible default layout, so you can type from the moment you plug it in and change things as you learn what you want.
Yes, and with most things that have a USB port. The board identifies itself as an ordinary keyboard, so there are no drivers and nothing to install - Windows, macOS, Linux, a tablet, whatever you plug it into.
One half takes a USB-C cable to your computer, and a TRRS cable links the two halves. Anything we build for you arrives flashed and tested, so it works from the moment you plug it in.
The Keyball boards carry a trackball in the board itself. On every other board the trackball, trackpoint and touchpad are modules that replace one of the controllers, so you choose a side and pick one.
A board we assembled arrives finished: soldered, screwed together, switches and keycaps fitted, flashed and tested. A board we soldered arrives flashed and tested too, with the switches, keycaps, pointing device and case fastening left to you. Spares come with either, in case a switch stops working or a screw goes missing, along with a printed slip: what is in the box, which side takes the USB cable, and where to remap it.
Cables are not included. A USB-C cable and a TRRS cable are picks in the configurator, and you need both to use the board. On the Keyball boards the 34mm ball is not included either.
A kit arrives as parts: the PCBs, diodes, reset switches and TRRS jacks, plus the screws, spacers and bumpers to put it together.

Every board is typed on before it is packed, so problems are rare. If one reaches you anyway, reach out and we will sort it out.
